Discovery
Individuals often are clear about their limitations,
but are often not as clear about their strengths, emerging
skills, interests, values, and motivators. Most individuals
want to be successful but need to discover who they
are first.
Knowledge is the foundation of individual and organizational
behavior change.
During DISCOVERY, knowledge is gathered to better understand
what you need and want to increase career satisfaction
and performance outcomes. Discovery is confirming self-knowledge
with external sources and understanding how this knowledge
relates to current business and industry trends.
Commitment
COMMITMENT is the partnership established by you, your
manager, peer or coach after deciding what is important
to increase career satisfaction and performance outcomes.
It is analyzing career options, deciding on possible
goals, identifying and writing SMART goals, developing
a practice plan with clear progress markers.
Commitment is identifying the "value or reward"
of achieving behavioral change, along with "speed
bumps" that may slow down goal attainment. A support
network such as your manager, peer, work group or coach
keeps you on "track" and committed to the
practice schedule.
Forward Action
During FORWARD ACTION, the commitment plan is activated
and the coach or manager’s role is to provide
resource support, motivation, progress feedback and
re-direction when appropriate. The relationship is a
positive energy force that supports and reinforces practice
sessions and performance successes.
Your responsibility is to attend the learning sessions,
perform the behavior or ask for support when you find
yourself "off course." The coach or manager’s
responsibility is to provide systematic "discovery"
updates to sustain forward action behavior change.
CPS will annually donate
a portion of our revenue to career, mentoring or youth
programs that positively influence personal and professional
growth.
